Velox Network carries paid links. This page sets out exactly which links are paid, who pays, what the payment does and does not affect, and what determines the content of this site instead.
Which links are paid
Links to the World of Tanks website are paid links. They appear on the games covered page and on the homepage, and each one has a line of text immediately next to it saying so.
Every other outbound link on this site is unpaid and earns nothing. That includes every link to an Australian government body — the Australian Classification Board, the ACCC, Scamwatch, the Australian Cyber Security Centre, the eSafety Commissioner and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner — and every link to a vendor's own documentation. Those links exist because the destination is the authoritative source for something stated here.
Who pays, and for what
The payment comes from an advertising programme that promotes the game on the publisher's behalf. It is triggered when a reader follows one of the paid links and then creates and activates an account — in the terminology used on this site, a single opt-in followed by activation. The commission is a fixed amount per completed sign-up, paid by the programme out of its own advertising budget.
No payment is received for a page view, for a click that goes no further, or for anything you spend inside a game afterwards. Velox Network is paid once per completed sign-up, or not at all.
What it costs you
Nothing. The price of anything you buy from the vendor, now or later, is identical whether you arrived through a link here or typed the address into your browser yourself. There is no surcharge, no different offer and no tracking of your purchases back to this site. The commission is an advertising cost carried by the programme, not an amount added to your bill.
What the commission does not influence
- It does not buy praise. The description of the game on this site is confined to what the publisher's own programme materials state, labelled as the vendor's description. No opinion of the game is published here, favourable or otherwise.
- It does not order the coverage. There is no ranking, no scoring and no "best of" list anywhere on this site, so there is no order for a commission to influence.
- It does not shape the category entries. The material on business models, requirements, accounts, classification and consumer rights is written to apply to any online game, and none of it depends on which title you choose. Several passages — on randomised purchases, on premium currency pricing, on chargebacks — argue for caution in ways that plainly do not serve an advertiser's interest, and they stay because they are accurate.
- It does not affect what the privacy policy says. No reader data moves from this site to the programme. A paid link is an ordinary link with a label on it.
What does determine the content
Two things. The category entries are chosen from the questions a reader in Australia would plausibly ask before or after installing a desktop game, and their content is determined by what the relevant authority publishes and by what can be stated accurately without a source being invented for it.
Coverage of an individual game is determined by exactly one factor, stated plainly: this publisher covers titles it has an advertising relationship with, and at present that is one title. That is a narrow scope and it is disclosed rather than dressed up as editorial breadth. If you want a comparison of this game against others, this is the wrong site, and saying so is more useful than pretending otherwise.
How the links behave
The paid links point directly at the advertising programme's address, exactly as the programme supplies it. There is no redirect on this domain, no short link, no cloaking, no script that rewrites the destination when you click, and no page in between asking you to continue. Hovering over a link shows in your browser's status bar exactly where it goes. Each is marked with rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" so that search engines can identify it as a paid link, and opens in a new tab.
If you would rather not use a paid link, do not use one. Search for the vendor directly. Every other page here works identically and none of the guidance changes.
